We recently released this music video (released on Oct 14, 2012, as of Sep 5, 2012, it has garnered over 15000 views on youtube and vimeo combined) about a gay teen being bullied and eventually rises above. It was our first experience in shooting with DSLR camera with a basic proper lens.

We had done many basic usage of the camera but never as we did for this shoot.

The result was a fun and enjoyable visual presentation of a Sweden retro pop artist’s Bimbo Boy music video Die from a Broken Heart. Currently over 10500 views on YouTube and Vimeocombined.

Using the T2i and the standard kit and a 50mm F1/8, a Tascam DR-05 with a shotgun Beyerdynamic mec86 mic, flood of lights on scenes, and a cheap Kodak Zx3 waterproof camera for underwater shots, did this all with 1280×720 60fps as we used a bit of slow-mo on a few areas. Dolly shot was using the Tripod Dolly ($40) at the high school’s scene. at the time of the shoot, I didn’t get a focus ring, so all the focusing was done manually while ‘framing’ and ‘moving’ the camera (a pain) lol Just got the DSLR-Solutions’ $60 focus kit so will be doing more with it.

Some effects done in AE and a small color correction done using Magic Bullet Colorista II, 3D animation done by the Fiorella Brothers.
